Each ornate piece is carefully handcrafted with horsehair and wire by Halla in her studio.

Horsehair is not sold on the Icelandic public market, and for this reason, Halla collects the horsehair herself from a slaughterhouse in the south of Iceland, which otherwise would have disposed of the material. She gets the tail of the horse on the bone, dirty and uncombed. As such, Halla engages in every step of the craft process, from cleaning and cutting the horsehair, to forming the final product.
