BIO
Halla Lilja Ármannsdóttir is an Icelandic textile artist and knitwear designer whose practice explores the relationship between traditional craft, digital knitting technology, and contemporary textile art. Her work combines knitting, crochet, embroidery, and unconventional natural materials, including Icelandic wool and horsehair.
Halla graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2021 with a degree in Fashion Textiles: Knit and later completed an MFA in Textile and Fashion Design at the Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås in 2026.
Rooted in Icelandic nature, material culture, and knitting traditions, her practice moves between handcraft and advanced textile technology. She is particularly interested in material experimentation, sculptural knitwear, and exploring new possibilities within Icelandic textile traditions.
Her work has been exhibited in Iceland and internationally, including at DesignMarch, Scandinavia House in New York, and through residencies and exhibitions in Ljubljana and Newfoundland.
Halla is currently based in Iceland and works on selected textile and design projects and in collaboration with the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós.
